make it workshops owner 'Joey' started sewing at 9 years old! After many failed attempts at getting her crafty
and talented mother of five to show her how to sew summer clothes-she decided to just do it herself...and she did! After 15
years of home creations and altered thrift store finds, she packed up and moved from north carolina to los Angeles to attend
the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising and graduated with a degree in fashion design. During school she worked
in a high end fabric store and also as a wardrobe asst. on many low budget and well funded films. Making, dying and altering
many garments along the way. She worked in the Los Angeles garment industry for 10 years..from
design assistant in Jr. sportswear and menswear to designing and selling her own Womens Contemporary line 'Halo'
to Nordstroms as well many other department store and boutiques across the country. Having kids changed all that! After
her first daughter was born Joey decided to open a retail boutique named ga ga which specialized in mommy and baby gifts.
Which turned into an emphasis on gift baskets marketed successfully to many studios and celebrity clients. Joey made many of the items that were sold at ga ga. A line of dresses, blankets, bibs, burps, embellished
onesies, hats etc. And still does! Items can be found at her other business site gagagifts.com In
2006 the whole family moved to Seattle where Joey has decided to teach you some favorite
stitches and tricks of the trade and simply have fun creating at make it workshop! Ondine Toler-Scott is
